Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider that operates the tool. That provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep a separate log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained so our team can respond. We do not disclose the message beyond our organization unless the law requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive basic technical details when a page loads, including:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when supplied
- Pages opened and the time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and analytics services help us view combined traffic patterns, such as popular pages and common exit points. A browser can refuse cookies, though blocking them may change how some functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a search request to the selected provider
- Diagnosing faults and maintaining performance
- Learning which resources are useful or need revision
- Operating and securing the website
- Displaying advertising that may reflect user interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not build, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. Lowndes County guidance points readers to the sheriff, jail, courts, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency CJIS, Alabama Department of Corrections, and Alabama Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not compiled into a record about another person or a consumer report. This resource is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy notices, retention periods, and disclosure rules apply to information entered in those tools. Review a provider's terms before sending a query because we do not control its data practices.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to a sheriff, court, Alabama agency, federal service, or independent search provider. Once a visitor leaves this website, the destination's policy governs. Read it before providing personal information.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. We do not operate those tracking systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold. It may be available to:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Advertising networks that place or measure ads
- Search providers that process a submitted query
- A government body or law-enforcement agency acting under valid legal process
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security measures are used for information within our control. No internet system can guarantee perfect protection, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect a minor's personal information. If we learn that a person under 18 provided such data, we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Applicable law may provide additional rights based on where a visitor lives. Alabama's Open Records Act, Ala. Code § 36-12-40, concerns public writings held by government, while Ala. Code §§ 41-9-590 through 41-9-649 govern state criminal-information dissemination. They do not turn this private resource into a government custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request deletion of personal data
- Object to certain processing
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Request access to personal information we hold
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal duties change. A revised version will appear here with its new effective date.
